About SwapToSaaS

SwapToSaaS is a decision guide for anyone tired of watching SaaS bills creep up while the same tools shrink their free tiers.

Why this exists

Every popular SaaS has open-source alternatives — usually three to nine of them. Picking the right one is a mess. Most "alternatives" articles are ranked listicles that rehash press releases and never tell you which one is actually maintained, which is a pain to self-host, or which one the community quietly hates.

We fix that with three things every page has:

• Live GitHub metrics — stars, last commit, issue backlog. Refreshed daily.
• Community sentiment — actual quotes from r/selfhosted and Hacker News, not vendor blogs.
• A decision framework — "If you are X, pick Y." No 5000-word fence-sitting.

Editorial policy

Some links on this site are affiliate links to hosting providers (DigitalOcean, Vercel, Railway, Hetzner). We only recommend hosts we would deploy production workloads on ourselves. Our ranking of the OSS itself is independent of any affiliate relationship — we do not currently receive any payment from OSS projects.
